Beach Cake

For my niece's birthday, she wanted a beach theme. Top tier was one layer strawberry cake and the second layer was banana cake with cream cheese filling and sliced strawberries and bananas. Bottom tier is yellow cake with vanilla buttercream. All decorations were hand sculpted with gum paste. The sand was made from white sugar, brown sugar, and a mixture of sparkle and luster dust. When the light hit just right, you could see it sparkle. If you look closely the "t" in birthday is not crossed...that was fixed before the cake was picked up but all my pictures will forever have the "t" uncrossed.

White, Black, and Red Wedding Cake

For my husband's niece who wanted a white cake with black and red accents. Yellow cake with vanilla buttercream filling. Covered in fondant with gumpaste flowers. Flaws in the fondant but I always learn from my mistakes. Bride loved it...that's what counts.

Wedding cake for a young women who liked lisianthus flowers. These are my version of that flower. Tried to follow instructions for making them and it didn't work out so I made them from a picture. Flowers and butterflies made from gum paste. Marble cake with chocolate buttercream filling. Cake topper was provided to me. My first thought was the topper was not going to go with the cake but once in place it was pretty cute. Black curlicues made from fondant...not very good at piping yet.
